Employee Handbook:
An Employee Handbook is a great tool to bring together employment and job related information such as holiday arrangements, sickness policy, organisational rules and disciplinary and grievance procedures. It is also useful to give to new employees and can form part of their induction process.
An employee had book gives clear and concise guidance to employees and can help to create a culture where issues are dealt with fairly and consistently.
While an Employee handbook will vary from business to business, the specific areas that an Employee Handbook may need to cover are;
- A welcome statement, which may include a mission statement or outline some of the businesses goals and objectives, it should also include a brief history of the organisation and how the employee can contribute to future successes.
- Expectation of conduct and disciplinary processes
- Where the employee can go for help and guidance this may form part of the grievance procedure
- Any Health and Safety rules and regulations
- Use of Company equipment Telephone, Email etc
Although this list is not exhaustive you will have specific policies to underpin your employee handbook and these will provide greater detail of information.
MCW Consulting can help to create your Employee Handbook to reflect and enhance your Organisations culture and ensure information provided is clear and concise, as well as provide assistance with your policies and procedures from writing a complete policy to ensuring existing policies are legally compliant.
